I’ve spent a lot of my life outdoors doing things that require strong action - so starting inside, with insights, may seem like it doesn’t come naturally. But, inside-out - first, understanding and modifying my internal perspective and competence before acting - is how I’ve conquered my biggest challenges and, I’ve found, it’s also the best starting point for guiding a business that is trying to transform itself. As a former ski instructor and executive at major alpine resorts, I know a little something about crossing the inevitable crevasses that can threaten progress. Experienced climbers take time to plot their crossing strategy - whether by ladder, ice bridge or simply circumventing the gap altogether - before moving ahead. In this “Insight Out” blog series, I’ll be sharing stories of how my clients, friends and mentors - and me, too - have managed to bring our businesses from one side of a daunting growth crevasse to the other. The goal is to help more of us successfully overcome the market, management, business model and money obstacles that seem to block the way from the company we have to the one we foresee. Stay tuned to this space, please, as there is more to come soon.
